SEO Lesson 3

SEO Lesson 3

In the previous lessons, I talked about the importance of keyword selection and the purchasing of domain names.  This is all the prelude to the next seo lesson called building an effective Google website.  In this article, I will unlock some of the misconceptions dealing with websites and website construction.  A website should be thought of from the perspective of the search engine spiders.  Most people tend to take a human view of this and they entirely miss the purpose and intent of the site.

My point here is that you must first appeal to the spider bots, before you take into consideration the look and feel of the site.  I have worked with some of the top web designers in the world and without a doubt, these people can digitally create the finest looking sites, but really most have not a clue as to the most important elements of that site in regards to obtaining top positions on the Internet.

In SEO Lesson 3 you will scope the following elements.  I will go into more detail in the remainder of the article.

1.  Title

2.  Metatag Description

3.  Keywords

4.  Content

These are the four most important elements in web design.  After all, you could spend thousands, and even tens of thousands of dollars on a site, but if no one sees that site, what value is it?  The most important rule to follow in internet marketing is this fact.  NO TRAFFIC=NO SALES.  In other words, if no one visits your site, then how are you going to tell of your product or services?

The title is of paramount importance in any website design.  In other words, if you are going to approach the keyword term of home based business (not recommended by the way), you would title your site home based business.  You see, simplicity in all things concerned with effective marketing online is the most important key to keep in mind.  Most people are off track slightly with their titles.  Consequently, their site will land up on obscure keyword terms where absolutely no one will ever seen them.

The metatag desciption is important.  You may have the seo gurus on Google tell you that metas are no longer read by the spiders, but I know from personal experience, they are of utmost importance.  All that a metatag description is simply a description, in one or two keyword specific sentences, information about the site.  Also, keep in mind that the metatag should have the first words of your titles there as well.  For example, a good metatag description for the home based business site would be something like this.  Home based business is a dream of online marketers today on Google.  If you take note here, you will notice home based business is the first term, then I always use Google in my metas as well.

Keyword selection is the most important element in this whole process.  As I have mentioned before, I use WordTracker, the paid version, as my software of choice.  Choose your keywords and keyword phrases very carefully as you want to place your site into the keyword categories on Google that possess significant traffic.

Content is king on Google.  Without a doubt, writing content is your ally in this process called marketing online.  Your ability to write, or conversely, your inability to write original copy, will determine the success that you have on Google.  If you are not a good writer, I am going to make a suggestion to you.  Record your speech on any type of online recorder.  Write the way that you speak.  In all actuality, the key to writing content is to write the way that you talk to other people.  Discipline comes into full play here.  The better you write, the more that you write then the more you will be able to write content.  There are no quick solutions in marketing effectively online.  Once you begin to put all these pieces together, you will begin to lay the proper foundation for any online marketing campaign.

In the next session, I will be covering indexing your websites to Google.
