Buying Home Business Leads
By Butch Hamilton
Is buying leads a sensible alternative to take when attempting to build a home business? This burning question leads most people to question their very sanity. They think that buying leads is the only way to get their information in front of people who want to buy their products and services. One question needs to be asked here. How many phone calls did you receive today concerning your car warranty about to expire? On the average, I get about three to five of these calls per day. I am on the do not call list and still, these people persist because I have become a lead at some point.
The leads industry as a whole, quoting my good friend Tom Prendergast, "is the modern form of slavery." I heartily agree as leads brokers are nothing more than private information sellers. They sell their wares to the highest bidder, no matter what the source of where these leads were obtained. I have bought supposed telephone surveyed leads before. When I chose to call these unsuspecting people, I would get an earful of a number of expletives that even I had not heard before. My point to buying home business leads is this. Do not expect to get rich quick by buying leads. You will soon find that buying leads is, for the most part, a futile effort.
The home business leads industry is a massive mess of exchanging personal information that people have placed on some contact form, at some point in time. Chances are, knowing the surfing habits of most online people, they are not even aware when they filled out the form, or for what reason. All of a sudden, they start receiving phone calls from hungry marketers who are thoroughly convinced that these people want to start a home business. Their calling techniques can range range from soft to hardcore.
Major players in the leads industry will spend many dollars to convince you that their leads are special. They leads have never been sold to anyone before. Their leads are telephone surveyed, opted in and a variety of other terms that have to do with leads. Their leads are fresh prospects. Their leads hold the answer to all your marketing problems. As a matter of fact, I was involved with an MLM company where the co-founder of the organization actually was in the business of selling leads to the distributors! How clever can that be. This guy caught people the first, and the second time around. He designed a site whereby you can manage and load all of your home business leads into the sight for ease of management. The trick to this was that his site would only accommodate the leads that he sold you. Folks, I have to say that this co-founder had the best of all worlds. I am almost positive that this is the norm in the MLM industry, and not the exception to the rule.
Back to the burning question of is buying home business leads the only way to build a strong and viable business on Google? I would say of course not. You can become educated in the art and science of gaining top positions on the Internet. You can become an internet business professional. I will tell you that approaching your business in this manner is time consuming, but once you actually learn proven techniques, you will be well on your way to a lucrative work from home business.
Buying leads is a waste of valuable resources. Leads.com preys on innocent victims who think that this is the only way to building a signficant busienss on Google. Get educated in the ways of leads, lead generation, all about leads, sales leads, insurance leads and all the rest of the information, and misinformation concerning leads. I think that you will reach a logical alternative to that type of thinking.
