Reaching the top producing goals that everyone starts out with requires customers. You can not have a successful business, no matter your product or service, if you don't have customers. The biggest challenge for anyone starting out is finding those customers in large enough quantities to earn a good income!

Soliciting others into your business is hard. Most likely, your very small warm market is not open to MLM opportunities. They would usually ask "Is this one of those Pyramid type Schemes" or "How much money have you made so far?" Then when I'd explain that I just joined and am just getting started many would smile smugly and say something like "OK, after you are rich let me know so you can buy me a new car".

If you haven't found out yet - friends and family can be your worst enemies and even try to stop you from lifting yourself out of the same pitiful J.O.B. existence that they are in. Some say that misery loves company!

Personal Note: You are likely wasting your time if your prospect asks you if it is one of "those" schemes, especially while rolling their eyes. That means they have been hurt by a past experience, don't trust or believe anyone, are very close-minded or conservative. In that case ask for a referral - maybe - and save your story for someone who will listen.

After experiencing rejection from family and friends I considered buying leads. I thought they would be easier to approach since they were supposedly already targeted to my opportunity, and besides it would be more comfortable if a stranger rejects you. I figured if I contacted a high enough number of leads it would produce results. After all it's a numbers game - right? - Wrong! - It is an art! You have to learn how to be successful calling leads. Do you know where the leads you are thinking of buying come from? Ever seen those 'Get paid to fill out surveys' adverts? Yep. Probably some broke, desperate-lonely-heart has tried to make a buck during the Ad break on daytime TV. They are not a prime prospect.

Even worse. They could be MLM genealogy leads from some Pre-launch MLM company that never made it. Hey. Maybe you are on that list too. You could even get to buy back your own name. How cool is that?

Then I started analyzing the cost of fresh premium leads, my limited time and money resources, and the liklihood that people I sponsored would pay for leads and do the same. Then to get those people to copy you - not likely. .

In my case I could not even call leads until maybe 6-9 PM PST due to my long work hours. So if the lead lived in EST time zone that meant calling them at 11-12PM EST. That's just insane! If I waited until the weekend to call the lead there was a good chance of them being gone for the weekend, not being home, or being upset because they had been called ten times already that week from others trying to pitch their Get Rich Quick deals.
