Taylor Prendergast is in the news on Google. This child prodigy of the surrealism art world is making impressive statements on canvas. Her commitment and dedication to the art world has gained her some very noteworthy reviews from world renowned artists. Her style is entirely unique and innovative. To possess talent such as this, and at such an early age, is indeed an incredible thing to witness.

Surrealism is defined as "surrealism (sərē`əlĭzəm), literary and art movement influenced by Freudianism and dedicated to the expression of imagination as revealed in dreams, free of the conscious control of reason and free of convention. The movement was founded (1924) in Paris by André Breton, André, 1896–1966, French writer, founder and theorist of the surrealist movement."

This particular style of art is seen as a creative philosophy of life. Taylor is advanced in her philosophical thinking, as the paintings clearly show. To quote Taylor Prendergast: "Time becomes an idea. To make time is to form an idea. To allow yourself to always create and always inspire and let inspiration come to you, here, there and now."

These words are an inside look at the mind of genius in the making. To have the vision of becoming a world class surrealism artist is the goal of both Taylor and her inspiring father. Tom is consistently proving that spending time in the development of children is the best time spent indeed. Mr. Prendergast is also an aspiring artist as well. He works in digital media, as well as scrimshaw. "Scrimshaw -- Painstaking etching on ivory or bone -- is one of only a few indigenous American crafts. Practiced for centuries by the Inuit and other native groups along the Northwest Coast, it was adopted by the Yankee whalemen of the early 1800's. Two- to five-year voyages quickly became monotonous, so the whalemen turned to working with baleen, whale teeth, and jawbones, all of which were in abundant supply -- in fact, on many ships, whale teeth were part of the pay, and were often traded to shopkeepers in port for goods or services. Common subjects included whaling scenes, ships, women, and scenes copied from magazines of the day. The origin of the word is obscure; one interesting etymology is a Dutch phrase meaning "to waste one's time!" The term "scrimshaw" also applies to carved or pierced bone or ivory, since much of the whalemen's work was carved rather than etched."

The Prendergast family is noteworthy because of the up and coming talent that will soon be distributed world wide. Taylor's work is now being held on auction at eBay. This is the chance to capture the moment of one of the up and coming surrealist artists of our time. To be able to own works of this magnitude, will be nothing but a sound investment for art lovers and critics.
